Tren del Recuerdo is a tourist service that takes passengers back to the golden age of Chilean railways, with restored carriages from different decades of the 20th century, large windows, and an atmosphere filled with nostalgia.

During the 2026 season, this service includes special trips to Limache, Ritoque, Llay Llay, and San Antonio, combining railway heritage, local gastronomy, and tourist activities. These routes are joined by the night service between Santiago and Temuco, a journey designed to comfortably transport you overnight and, as soon as you step off the carriage, begin your adventure through the fascinating landscapes of La Araucanía.

Chilean Tourist Trains: Journey Through the North

Chile’s far north also offers its own railway experiences, with routes combining heritage, history, and desert landscapes.

These experiences depart from Arica and follow sections of the historic Arica-La Paz railway route, allowing visitors to discover vestiges of the Chinchorro culture — a UNESCO World Heritage site — pre-Hispanic geoglyphs, and old railway stations. The offerings include daytime options to various points in the Lluta Valley, as well as a nighttime experience specially designed for astrotourism, taking advantage of the planet’s clearest skies.
