Chile has more than 40,000 islands in its territory, many with endemic species that are not found anywhere else in the world. Some are in the Pacific Ocean, such as Rapa Nui with its moai and Juan Fernández, while others are accessible from the mainland, such as Pan de Azúcar in the north or Chiloé and the Patagonian islands in the south. All are home to a unique culture, with ancestral traditions that are preserved to this day.
