The measure aims to make it easier for tourists from Australia to visit our pristine landscapes and vibrant culture.
As of September 17th, 2025, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Official Journal, traveling to Chile has become simpler for Australian citizens, since they no longer need to apply for a visa in advance to enter as tourists.
With this resolution, Australia was removed from the official list of countries that require a tourist visa to enter Chilean territory.
Previously, travelers from this country had to apply for an E-Visa, an electronic document that will no longer be required.
No Visa, no reciprocity fee!
In practice, this means that Australian travelers can arrive directly in the country and obtain a tourist entry permit at immigration checkpoints, with an authorized stay of up to 90 days, extendable according to current regulations.
Thus, Australian citizens traveling to Chile will not need a visa or have to pay the reciprocity fee.
With this measure, Chile opens its doors further to Australian visitors, strengthening ties between the two nations and inviting them to explore from the Atacama Desert to the magical Patagonia.

Further south, you will find Patagonia and Torres del Paine National Park, recognized as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Its iconic mountains, glaciers, and turquoise lakes provide unmatched scenery for nature and adventure lovers.
In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, more than 3,700 km (2,300 mi) off the mainland, lies Rapa Nui (Easter Island), a Polynesian treasure where the mysterious moai statues and the warmth of its people invite you to connect with ancient traditions.
And if cities are more your style, do not miss Santiago, a modern capital surrounded by mountains, offering diverse cultural, culinary, and wine experiences; and Valparaíso, a port city declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where street art and colorful hillside neighborhoods make it truly unique.
