How to get there

How to get there by air

The main access is through Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) in Santiago. From the terminal, there are private transportation services, taxis, and specialized transfers that make the direct journey to the mountains in approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

How to get there by land

From Santiago, take the road towards the eastern sector to connect with Camino a Farellones (Route G-21). The route covers 46 km along a mountain road famous for its hairpin turns. It is mandatory to carry and use chains on the vehicle during the winter season, and it is recommended to drive vehicles with 4×4 traction. During high season weekends, there are usually restricted times for uphill or downhill traffic only.

Must-Know Tips

Solar radiation in the high mountains is extremely strong due to the reflection of the snow; using high factor sunscreen, lip balm, and sunglasses with UV filter is vital. It is mandatory to dress in layers (thermal layer, coat and waterproof) and have gloves and suitable footwear for the snow. Don’t forget to check the road conditions and weather forecast before going up, buy your ski tickets in advance on their website to avoid queues and, if you are going for the day, go up early to ensure parking availability.
