Thanks to its diverse and extreme landscapes, Chile has been the star of several music videos by world-class artists.

From the Quintay coast to the hills of Valparaíso and the Atacama Desert, these musical recordings allow you to explore real landscapes that have gone from the screen to tourist experiences.

Next, we invite you to discover these unique places, immortalized in recordings by artists such as Chayanne, Joe Jonas, and Dua Lipa.

1. “Si nos quedara poco tiempo” (2008) – Chayanne

Chayanne – Si Nos Quedara Poco Tiempo

One of the most memorable music videos filmed in Chile. Chayanne chose the mystique of Quintay, in the Valparaíso Region, to bring this romantic ballad to life. The main set was the old Quintay Whaling Station, an industrial complex that has now been restored as a fascinating museum.

Here you can walk along walkways facing the Pacific Ocean, viewpoints, and learn about the history of this town. Admission is $3,000 CLP (USD 3). A few steps from the museum is Playa Chica. A must-see where a path through forests leads to a bay with calm waters, ideal for ending the day.

2. “Inmortal” (2009) – La Oreja de Van Gogh

In 2009, the Spanish band chose Valparaíso to capture the bohemian essence of the “Jewel of the Pacific” in “Inmortal”. The members of the musical group toured the colorful stairs and traditional viewpoints of the port.

Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the city invites you to get lost among the Alegre and Concepción hills, go up the historic elevators, and tour the Yugoslavo and Gervasoni promenades to get one of the best views of the Pacific.

3. “Cristina” (2019) – Sebastián Yatra y Tini

Sebastián Yatra – Cristina

Valparaíso once again becomes the setting and protagonist in “Cristina”, where Sebastián Yatra and Tini travel by motorcycle through some of the port’s most emblematic corners. This is one of the music videos filmed in Chile that included locations in Viña del Mar and different historical points of Valparaíso.

Among them, the former Maestranza Barón, an old railway workshop and now a National Monument, stands out, along with the traditional Cerro Concepción, where viewpoints, passages, galleries, and heritage houses are concentrated. An ideal tour to discover the most authentic and historical Valparaíso.

4. “Por las noches (Remix)” – Nicki Nicole y Peso Pluma

In 2023, Nicki Nicole recorded the remix of “Por las noches” with Peso Pluma, rescuing the nightlife identity of Valparaíso. The setting was the traditional Bar Cinzano, an icon founded in 1896 in the heart of Plaza Aníbal Pinto and which has been a meeting point for musicians, poets, and tourists.

Visiting this sector allows you to experience the bohemian port life portrayed in the music video: dim lights, live music, and boleros. A must for those looking to experience the nocturnal version of Valparaíso.

5. “Nowhere Now” – Steven Wilson

Steven Wilson – Nowhere Now

The British Steven Wilson took progressive rock to the ALMA Observatory for the video of “Nowhere Now”. At 5,000 meters high, the 66 antennas of the world’s most powerful radio telescope and the vastness of the landscape created a setting that can only be found in the Atacama Desert.

Although visits to ALMA are temporarily suspended, San Pedro de Atacama, considered one of the world’s great astrotourism destinations, offers a wide variety of experiences. There are night tours from $30,000 CLP (approx. USD 32) that allow you to observe one of the cleanest skies on the planet.

6. Joe Jonas in the Cajón del Maipo

Joe Jonas – Work It Out (Official Lyric Video)

In April 2024, the member of the Jonas Brothers revolutionized his Chilean fans by choosing the Cajón del Maipo as the setting to record material for his solo project Music for People Who Believe in Love. Crystalline rivers and landscapes of the Andes Mountains were the chosen locations.

Located about 60 kilometers from Santiago, this destination is ideal for a day or weekend getaway. You can find natural hot springs, trekking routes, and rafting. A must-see is the El Yeso Reservoir.

In 2024, Dua Lipa revolutionized the country with her arrival for a production of a luxury brand. Although it was not a music video, her visit reaffirmed Chile as a world-class set by combining the visual strength of the Chilean desert with the elegance of the historic center of Santiago.

Dunes and rock formations marked her recording in the Valle de la Luna, while in the capital, the filming captured the urban pulse near Paseo Ahumada.
