If you still think of a market as a place solely for shopping or eating, Mercado Urbano Tobalaba (MUT) proposes a different concept.
Located on the border between the Providencia and Las Condes districts and connected to public transport, this space brings together gastronomy, culture, green areas, and services.

What is MUT and what can you find there?

Mercado Urbano Tobalaba opened its doors in July 2023 and is located in Las Condes (bordering Providencia), between Apoquindo, Encomenderos, Roger de Flor, and El Bosque Norte streets. From its inception, developer Territoria envisioned it as an “urban campus”: a space combining offices, retail, gastronomy, culture, and meeting areas, designed to integrate into the city’s daily life.
The concept unfolds across different levels, adding gardens, plazas, walkways, and places to pause or simply explore.
From La Calle (The Street) on the first level, to El Barrio (The Neighborhood), El Jardín (The Garden), La Terraza (The Terrace), and El Puente (The Bridge) on the upper floors, the project invites you to discover its spaces on foot. The underground levels feature areas such as El Taller (The Workshop), El Mercado (The Market), and La Estación (The Station).
What you can find on the different levels

- La Calle (The Street): Functions as an extension of public space, with shops and walking areas.
- El Barrio (The Neighborhood): Gathers shops, services, and diverse urban living experiences.
- El Jardín (The Garden): The green heart of the project. Features vegetation, natural light, bookstores, and quiet corners for a break.
- La Terraza (The Terrace): Restaurants and outdoor spaces that take advantage of the height. Ideal for viewing Santiago from a different perspective.
- El Puente (The Bridge): Combines gastronomy, activities, and views of the urban surroundings.
- El Taller (The Workshop): A space dedicated to creativity and design, bringing together various local production initiatives.
- El Mercado (The Market): MUT’s gastronomic sector. You’ll find grab-and-go food and restaurants featuring cuisines from around the world.
- La Estación (The Station): Connects directly to Tobalaba Metro Station, one of its main access points.
MUT: Latin America’s Best Urban Market

The project was selected among the 10 winners of the ULI Americas Awards for Excellence 2025, an award given by the Urban Land Institute to projects recognized for their design, planning, innovation, economic impact, and sustainability.
In MUT’s case, the jury highlighted its proposal as a “micro-city” oriented towards public transport, integrating offices, retail, public spaces, underground parking, a bike path, and an amphitheater within a single environment.
Another characteristic of the project is its commitment to a diverse offering, where startups, artisans, designers, and independent producers coexist with larger brands. Instead of concentrating the experience in large department stores, MUT distributes various proposals across its levels and spaces.
Mercado Urbano Tobalaba: A Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability is integral to MUT’s design and operation, from how its visitors arrive to the management of waste generated within. The proposal incorporates various solutions to reduce its environmental impact and promote more sustainable ways of moving and living in the city.
Some of its main pillars are:
- BiciHub: features capacity for 2,000 bicycles and services such as showers, lockers, tools, and specialized workshops for those who travel by bike.
- Waste management: the project includes a waste separation and recovery system, as well as a biodigester to process organic matter and transform it into biogas and biofertilizer.
- Energy and water: incorporates geothermal energy for climate control and uses greywater from corporate buildings to irrigate its green areas. This is complemented by the use of 100% certified renewable energy and LEED Platinum certification.
How to get to MUT?

Getting to MUT is easy, especially by Metro: the project has a direct connection to Tobalaba station, so you can access it from the public transport network without going outside. You can also arrive by bus, with routes circulating along Apoquindo Avenue and Tobalaba Avenue, or by walking and cycling.
The BiciHub has access points on El Bosque Norte Avenue and Roger de Flor. If you prefer to go by car, MUT has parking facilities, with access via El Bosque Norte and Encomenderos. Additionally, it has pedestrian entrances on Apoquindo, Encomenderos, Roger de Flor, and El Bosque Norte.
