Chile is once again capturing the world’s attention. Our country was chosen as the Best International Destination in the inaugural edition of the Forbes Travel Awards 2026.
In a ceremony held in Madrid, our country prevailed over Japan and Alentejo (Portugal), adding another global recognition that highlights our natural diversity and the unique experiences available in our country.
Why did Chile win Best International Destination?

Chile’s victory in the awards of this prestigious magazine is significant. The Forbes Travel Awards are strictly editorial, meaning they are not based on sponsored nominations or open registration processes.
Chile stood out for a unique proposition: landscapes of unparalleled diversity and a growing commitment to sustainable tourism.
From the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world, to the glaciers and mountains of Patagonia, the country offers unique settings: the vibrant neighborhoods of Santiago, the lakes and volcanoes of the south, and the scenic routes of the Carretera Austral and Torres del Paine.
Adding to this natural richness is a tourism infrastructure that is committed to safe experiences connected to the environment, offering unforgettable moments.
Additionally, the December 2025 issue of Forbes magazine dedicated a special publication to Chile, which was distributed to international subscribers.
