How do I get to the Huilo-Huilo Reserve?
You can get to the Huilo-Huilo Reserve by car or by bus. Its main access is through Ruta 203, 58 minutes from Panguipulli and two hours and 40 minutes from Valdivia. The nearest town to access is Neltume, which has different services for your trip.
If you’re going to travel from Santiago, you can take a bus straight to Panguipulli that takes around 9 hours, or you can fly to the Pichoy aerodrome in Valdivia.

What can I do at Huilo-Huilo Reserve?
1. Portal de los Ciervos
The Portal de los Ciervos (Deer Portal) is one of the most visited places in the Huilo-Huilo Reserve. The area has deer and boar hatcheries that you’ll be able to visit through high walkways.
Another attraction in the area is the Museum of Volcanos or Rakin Mapu Museum, which has objects of huge historical value. If you want to eat something, inside the portal is the Petermann Brewery and Pizzeria, with an exquisite variety of pizzas made with ingredients from the local area.
Moreover, you can take the Cable Car Condor Andino from here, a place where you’ll cross the reserve until reaching a viewpoint with an amazing panoramic view.

2. Trekking and incredible paths
Walk along paths among evergreen forest and waterfalls that will leave speechless! The Huilo-Huilo Reserve has many trekking routes; the Saltos del Llallalca, the La Leona Path and the Botanical Trail being the most well-known.
There’s also the Path of the Spirits, an hour-long walk where you’ll pass by sculptures and refuges of the ancestral villages in Chile. Walking this path at night is simply hallucinating.
And if you’re looking for a challenge, you can go on expeditions to the Mocho Choshuenco Volcano, which has beautiful panoramic views and an important glacier of high scientific interest.

3. Rafting and kayaking
