Its houses, built between the 19th and 20th centuries, still preserve their traditional style today. <\/p>\n\n<p>It\u2019s worth strolling through the main square, photographing its church\u2014one of the classic postcards of the route\u2014and stopping by the traditional cheese shop. It\u2019s one of the most famous towns in southern Chile, and its architecture will leave you speechless. <\/p>\n\n<p> On its waterfront stands the iconic <strong>Teatro del Lago<\/strong>, one of South America\u2019s most important cultural centers. Along the shore you\u2019ll find beaches like Wiehoff and El Cisne, ideal for a break by the water. In addition, the <strong>Maull\u00edn River and its wetlands<\/strong> are great for birdwatching. Local traditions include cured meats and the <strong>Beer Festival<\/strong>, held every January.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where to start and how to get to Lake Llanquihue?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The route we\u2019ve just shared heads <strong>east<\/strong>, following a clockwise direction. That said, remember this circuit is completely flexible: if you prefer, you can start your adventure <strong>from Puerto Varas heading north to visit Llanquihue and Frutillar.<\/strong> Whatever you choose, the lake will always be your companion along the way. <\/p>\n\n<p>The fastest way to get there is to fly to <strong>El Tepual Airport in Puerto Montt<\/strong>, with daily flights from Santiago (1 hour 45 minutes), and from there travel by bus or private vehicle to Puerto Varas.
