That\u2019s why we decided to make the <strong>Street Art Route in Valparaiso<\/strong> and follow the print of the most remarkable creations decorating Chile\u2019s main port, all make to surprise and inspire!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/destinations\/valparaiso\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Valpara\u00edso<\/a> is one of the most beautiful cities of Chile and that\u2019s why is commonly called the <strong>\u201cJewel of the Pacific\u201d<\/strong>. Main port, loud, colorful and bohemian. Its beautiful murals have made Valpara\u00edso the indisputable capital of street art in Chile South-America, attracting thousands of visitors every year to take pictures with the murals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concepci\u00f3n Hill is, probably, the port\u2019s center of street arts, color and creativity, Thus, we start this Street Art Route in Valpara\u00edso at the famous Fischer stairs that connects with G\u00e1lvez Alley. But before going up, look front of you! Crossing Arriola Street you\u2019ll fin Apolo stair which is the frontier with Alegre <strong>Hill. There are two hands sending us a powerful message talking about nation\u2019s unity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/chile-travel-static-content\/2019\/05\/Graffiti-Valpara\u00edso.jpg\" alt=\"Colorido graffiti de la imagen de una mujer en el costado de un edificio en Valpara\u00edso\" class=\"wp-image-47410\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fischer Stair and G\u00e1lvez Alley<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Go up from Urriola street through Fischer stair until reaching G\u00e1lvez Alley. To the right you\u2019ll find another colorful stair with some lyrics from the song \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DkFJE8ZdeG8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Latinoam\u00e9rica<\/a>\u201d by Calle 13 painted on the steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, in G\u00e1lvez Alley you\u2019ll find an explosion of color and creativity, many murals and drawings to take pictures. In here, you\u2019ll find one the most magical corners of Valparaiso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pay attention to the street art in Valpara\u00edso! If you go up Papudo street, you\u2019ll find a man flying a kite. It\u2019s the \u201cLa mamie de Valpara\u00edso\u201d, a grandmother watching over the city from the corner of a house, a piece created by the French collective Ella &amp; Pitr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/chile-travel-static-content\/2019\/05\/Abuela-de-Valpo-ok.jpg\" alt=\"Imagen de un graffiti de Valpara\u00edso que muestra la imagen de una abuela con lentes pensando\" class=\"wp-image-47443\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Street Art symbol in Valpara\u00edso<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Go down Templeman street and turn right. You\u2019ll find one of the symbol of this street art route in Valpara\u00edso. Painted by a British collective, the stairs shine with the phrase <strong><em>\u201cWe Are Happy Not Hippies\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, a word game that rhymes pretty well in English. You\u2019ll find many travelers waiting to take a picture, but don\u2019t get desperate, in here everyone is patience and hurry to give foot to the next photographer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/chile-travel-static-content\/2019\/05\/Graffiti-Valpo-we-are-happy.jpg\" alt=\"Imagen que muestra un graffiti en las escaleras de Valpraiso con un grupo de mujeres turistas retrat\u00e1ndose en ella\" class=\"wp-image-47416\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Piano stairs, one of the most photographed ones<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These beautiful stairs are in Beethoven Alley at Concepci\u00f3n Hill and is one of the most visited. A piece by @chinoatonal, also a musician, the artist has been part of the renewal of other known stairs on this destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend you visit it during the firsts hours of the day, during the afternoon you\u2019ll see groups of tourists waiting to take a picture going down the stairs. While you wait, go around the surroundings, you\u2019ll find more mural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Street Art on our way to La Sebastiana<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cIf we walk all Valpara\u00edso stairs, we would have turn around the world\u201d<\/strong>, wrote Pablo Neruda, Nobel Prize. Surely, the Chilean poet would have been proud to see the many visitors the city receives to go to La Sebastiana, a house where he lived, as well as the Street art surrounding it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you tour Neruda\u2019s house, open your eyes wide open and look for the Bellavista Hill stairs. It\u2019s the Santa Luc\u00eda stairs, going up through Ferrari Street (that it\u2019s also decorated with Street art), with landscapes from Valpara\u00edso, made with mosaics. Then look for the stairs in Los Poetas Square or Mena Square, in here you\u2019ll find fours stairs decorated with colorful mosaics and beautiful sculptures as tribute to Pablo Neruda, the poet. All of them create what is called the <strong>Open Sky Museum of Bellavista Hill.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/chile-travel-static-content\/2019\/05\/Graffit-Valpara\u00edso-peces.jpg\" alt=\"Imagen de un graffiti en una muralla de Valpra\u00edso donde destacan peces y flora del fondo del mar\" class=\"wp-image-47428\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This open museum is full of graffiti, murals, paintings and mosaics. Born in 1969, its goal was to improve the popular and somehow mistreated look of the city. Just at the beginning of the 90\u2019s the project restarted, when dozens of artists (among them Mar\u00eda Martner, Roser Bru, Roberto Matta and Nemesio Ant\u00fanez) got together to contribute to the rebirth of the place<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Valpara\u00edso, artistic interventions are born and dead every other time, but we can assure you that port\u2019s street art will not leave you indifferent. Follow some of our recommendations.
