If you haven&#8217;t, we recommend that you look them up and watch them. For now, enjoy these amazing landscapes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>007 in the world&#8217;s most arid desert<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several of the scenes in Quantum of Solace, the 22nd film of the British spy James Bond, were filmed in the surroundings of the city of <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/atacama-desert-and-altiplano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Antofagasta<\/a>, in northern Chile.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Quantum Of Solace Official Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f6acw690AqQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The world&#8217;s driest desert, the <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/atacama-desert-and-altiplano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Atacama Desert<\/a>, was one of the locations in some of the final scenes. The Paranal Observatory, located in Tal Tal, was used in several key situations in the film (but we don&#8217;t want to give spoilers).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But this wasn\u00b4t the only place to appear in the 007 movie; the old Baquedano train station in <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/santiago-valparaiso-and-wine-valleys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Santiago<\/a> and the small port of Cobija, a National Monument in northern Chile, also appeared in this important action film.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Spy Kids, fiction right in the city&nbsp;<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People of all ages are welcome in our country! Spy Kids is another movie that was filmed in Chile. This saga by director Robert Rodriguez tells the story of young siblings who are determined to free their parents from the hands of a villain.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Spy Kids (2001) Official Trailer - Robert Rodriguez Family Spy Movie HD\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GE5aHKJp6HI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this children&#8217;s adventure, the young spies visit their uncle Machete (played by Danny Trejo) in the city of San Diablo. However, this fictitious city happens to be <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/santiago-valparaiso-and-wine-valleys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Santiago de Chile<\/a>, more specifically the Santa Lucia Hill, the La Moneda Presidential Palace and other places around the capital.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are also scenes filmed at the Wulff Castle in <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/destinations\/vina-del-mar-and-renaca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vi\u00f1a del Mar<\/a>, the Re\u00f1aca beach and the <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/atacama-desert-and-altiplano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Atacama Desert<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Spreading the Rapa Nui culture&nbsp;<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is an older film, shot in 1994, but we chose to highlight it because it is based on several of the legends from the <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/rapa-nui-and-juan-fernandez-archipelago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rapa Nui<\/a> island, a must-see destination in Chile. The plot focuses on the love story between Noro and Ramana, who belong to two rival tribes, the Long Ears and the Short Ears, in the purest Romeo and Juliet style.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rapa Nui - Original Theatrical Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4d_oapAqo6k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The film is about the legends of Tangata Manu and the importance of protecting the island&#8217;s native forest. Here, the landscapes are, without a doubt, an inspiration to anyone and they invite you to visit this island and discover the Moai.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Gun Shy, action and comedy take place on the coast of Chile&nbsp;<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Salty (also known as Gun Shy), a comedy starring Antonio Banderas, is another production on the list of movies that maybe you didn&#8217;t know were shot in Chile. <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/santiago-valparaiso-and-wine-valleys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Central Chile<\/a> was the location in several of its scenes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Gun Shy Trailer #1 (2017) | Movieclips Indie\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DkepKxr3gmo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Banderas plays a fading rock star who decides to go on vacation to Chile with his wife. During the trip, a series of dramatic events occur, but with humorous overtones.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The places featured in this film are <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/destinations\/valparaiso\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Valpara\u00edso<\/a>, Algarrobo and <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/santiago-valparaiso-and-wine-valleys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Santiago<\/a>. The film crew felt that Chile had the scenery, culture and people needed to give the film that unique flavor.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>North, center and south of Chile in The Motorcycle Diaries&nbsp;<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And Latin American cinema also places Chile among its favorite locations. The Motorcycle Diaries is a biographical film that narrates the adventures of Che Guevara and Alberto Granado across South America.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Diarios de motocicleta - Tr\u00e1iler\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5HhReT_VMLY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first part of this BAFTA award-winning film, starring Mexican actor Gael Garc\u00eda Bernal who was nominated for an Oscar, was filmed in <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/destinations\/valparaiso\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Valpara\u00edso<\/a>, but then the movie continued its journey filming in <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/forests-lakes-and-volcanoes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Araucan\u00eda<\/a> (specifically in the Lautaro area), and even passed through the <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/areas\/atacama-desert-and-altiplano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Atacama Desert<\/a>, marveling viewers with the famous Chuquicamata copper mine in northern Chile.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who have come to this corner of the world know that any time of the year is perfect to visit Chile.
