Vi\u00f1a del Mar National Botanical Garden<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bkt-chile-travel\/2023\/09\/cfd72d0b-jardin-botanico-vina-del-mar.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41362\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Vi\u00f1a del Mar National Botanical Garden is the largest in the country. Photo:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CMnpn2pp3rU\/\">@jardinbotanicovdm<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With 400 hectares, the <strong>Vi\u00f1a del Mar National Botanical Garden<\/strong> is positioned as the largest on our list of gardens. You can even have barbecues, do <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/activities\/nature-and-ecotourism\/outdoor-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">canopy<\/a>, have a picnic, rent bikes and go trekking on its two paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The place was created in 1951 due to the donation of the then <em>El Salitre <\/em>Park to the government. On its website, the foundation that administers the garden mentions among its objectives to create \u201c<strong>a network of Botanical Gardens<\/strong> where environmental education is implemented, scientific research is carried out, and the genetic heritage is maintained and preserved in the administration of botanical gardens across the country\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get there by car, you have to head to the <em>El Salto<\/em> area, crossing Limache street towards <em>Camino El Olivar<\/em>. It is just outside of <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/destinations\/vina-del-mar-and-renaca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vi\u00f1a del Mar<\/a>, towards Quilpu\u00e9<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prices:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adults (13 to 59 years old): $3,000. Students with TNE: $1,500.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seniors (+60 years old) and children (5 to 12 years old): $1,500.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children from 0 to 4 years old: Free entry all year round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cars: $3,000 extra, motorcycles: $1,500 extra.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Opening hours:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Botanical Garden at the Universidad Austral<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bkt-chile-travel\/2023\/09\/16f2116c-jardin-botanico-u-austral.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41354\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Botanical Garden at the Universidad Austral is a must-see destination for tourists that visit Valdivia. Photo:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BzJw9BsAPms\/\">@jardinbotanicouach<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The over 10 hectares of the <strong>Botanical Garden at the Universidad Austral <\/strong>are located on the <em>Isla Teja <\/em>Campus at this university in the district of <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/destinations\/valdivia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Valdivia<\/a>, Los R\u00edos Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is one of the most well-known natural environments in the country<\/strong>. It maintains around 1,000 plant species distributed into 10 demonstrative areas, which are surrounded by <a href=\"https:\/\/chileestuyo.cl\/itinerarios\/descubre-el-divertido-circuito-historico-de-valdivia\/\">the Cau-Cau and Calle Calle rivers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The space was created in <strong>1957 <\/strong>by the then Rector Dr. Eduardo Morales Miranda. According to the website, the Botanical Garden aims to generate <strong>\u201cthe necessary knowledge to preserve the floristic diversity of Chile<\/strong> and to transfer it to society for its benefit. For this, it creates live collections of plants and germplasm, carries out scientific research and creates educational programs\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entrance to the garden is behind the Faculty of Science and there is a parking lot for small vehicles on Doctor Eduardo Tallman Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prices: Free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opening hours: From Monday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Botanical Garden at the Universidad de Talca<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bkt-chile-travel\/2023\/09\/89787f0d-jardin-botanico-u-talca.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41358\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Botanical Garden at the Universidad de Talca is also a place of protection for endangered birds. Photo:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CfONz1rOs7j\/\">@lehcim_leon<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We move to the <a href=\"https:\/\/chile.travel\/en\/attractions\/maule-and-curico-valleys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maule Region<\/a> to the <strong>Botanical Garden at the Universidad de Talca<\/strong>, made up of 13 hectares and over 2,500 plant species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The place has an arboretum, an aviary, lagoons, and an educational farm with 60 species, such as pheasants, peacocks, and cochin chickens, in addition to <strong>endangered animals<\/strong> such as the tricahue and choroy parrots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inaugurated in 2006 after an agreement with the <strong>University of Dresden in Germany<\/strong>, the Botanical Garden is described on its website as \u201ca meeting point for the community, that finds here a space to spend time with the family and at the same time, learn about the value of nature\u201d.<br>The garden is located on the installations at the <strong>Universidad de Talca<\/strong>, which you can enter through Lircay avenue. Consider that the academic institution is located on the northern side of <a href=\"https:\/\/chileestuyo.cl\/destino\/talca\/\">the regional capital<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prices: Free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opening hours: Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. From Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Mapulemu Botanical Garden<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bkt-chile-travel\/2023\/09\/10570065-jardin-botanico-parquemet.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41350\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mapulemu is an oasis of nature in the middle of Santiago. Its 4.5 hectares are located in the grounds of the <strong>Parquemet <\/strong>in the district of Providencia, Metropolitan Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inaugurated in 1983 with the aim of helping in the rescue of the endemic flora, this Botanical Garden <strong>is divided according to the different parts of Chile<\/strong>: north, central, and south, which a medicinal area is added to.
