One of the most delightful experiences in San Pedro de Atacama is escaping into the immensity of the high plateaus in the Andes Mountains, where you can sink into the hot and energizing waters of the Puritama Thermal Springs. This natural phenomenon invites you to soak in several pools, all at staggered heights, flowing with sulphurous hot waters, rich in minerals that will guarantee a relaxing day. Embraced by nature, the unique environment displays giant cacti that are a thousand years old and is an experience that will sooth all your senses.
The Puritama Hot Springs are 30 kilometers (18.6 mi) from the town of San Pedro de Atacama, about half-way on the road that goes to the Tatio Geysers and at 3400 meters above sea level (11.145 feet).
The temperature of the waters vary from 25° to 30°C (77° to 86°F) all year round and are known for their heath-giving properties, alleviating arthritis pain and stress. For many years these Hot Springs were reserved only for the locals but today they are open to tourists from everywhere. Now that wooden walkways, bathrooms and dressing rooms were installed, they provide more safety and comfort to all of its visitors.
We invite you to enjoy a perfect sunset in the midst of the Andes Mountains in the Atacama Desert.
