From the city of Chillán, it's an 80-kilometer uphill journey to Valle Las Trancas and the Termas de Chillán ski center.
Perched at an altitude of 1,650 meters on the side of the Chillán Volcano, this ski resort boasts hotels, a spa, thermal pools and slopes that allow athletes to explore the area's beautiful forests. Enjoy a wide variety of trails for experts and beginners alike, such Las Tres Marías (13 km), the longest ski run in South America (which is of course equipped with the longest chairlift route). You can choose from a variety of activities including a visits to a snow park, snowmobiling, heli-skiing and exploring off-piste routes. The view from the peak is simply breathtaking, allowing you to see both Antuco Volcano and Domuyo Volcano in Argentina. And you can finish up your day of winter sports with a soak in the thermal waters of the indoor and open-air pools or by treating yourself to a massage with hot rocks or mineral-rich mud.
Valle Las Trancas is a perfect destination year-round. During the summer months, you can make this small Andean village with plenty of inns and cabins your home base and enjoy trekking, mountain biking, climbing and horseback riding among waterfalls, cliffs and coigüe, lenga and oak forests. This is also a great choice for the winter, with lodging just minutes from the ski slopes.
