On the Island of Caguach, the biggest religious festivity of Chiloé takes place: The Festival of the Nazareno of Caguach. In 1778, the islands of Alao, Apiao, Tac, Chaulinec and Caguach set up a congregation and committed to celebrating their patron, the Nazareno of Caguach. This festival is prepared by the inhabitants of the Archipelago days in advance and gathers around 8,000 people, both from the archipelago and the continent. The festival begins on August 23rd with the Preva (rowing competition between the islands), on the following days they hold the Novena, and on the 29th they hold the Ceremony of the Flag, while ending on the 30th with a procession.
How to get there: In the archipelago of Chiloé, sail from Dalcahue to the Island of Quinchao and then on to the Island of Caguach.
